After reading the article on trace route tools i moved on to find a site which offered one.

Google quickly led me to http://centralops.net/co/ which was one of the sites recommended.

It was very easy to use and gave me the following result.

In doing this exercise it makes you realise in much clearer terms just how quickly computers and the Internet work. You know in theory that the Internet is computers networked and exchanging data with each other however to see how many ip's they pass through and how quickly they do it is fascinating. The Internet is invented and ran by humans, however there is no human equivalent for such fast exchange of data.
